Land Clearing

Land Clearing in Southern Ohio & Eastern Kentucky

Homesites, barn pads, pasture, and access roads opened up and finished clean, so the next trade that shows up can actually go to work.

Land clearing is what you need when the ground has to end up usable, not just passable. A homesite that has to perc and pass inspection. A barn pad that needs to sit level. Pasture that has to grow grass instead of saplings. A lane back to the property that a concrete truck can climb.

The work is heavier than mulching: trees come down, stumps come out or get ground flush, and the surface gets shaped so water leaves the way you want it to. What gets hauled, burned, or left on site is a decision we make with you before anything starts, because it moves the price more than almost anything else.

If the goal is simply reclaiming overgrown acreage, and you can live with a mulch mat instead of bare dirt, forestry mulching gets you there faster and cheaper. If storm damage is what put you here, storm cleanup is the front half of this job.

What You Get

What Land Clearing Leaves You: Buildable, Workable Ground

Buildable, Not Just Cleared

Stumps out, surface shaped, drainage considered. The pad is ready for a footer crew instead of needing a second contractor to fix what the first one left.

Access Roads That Hold

A lane cut on the right line, crowned to shed water, and wide enough for a delivery truck, not a two-track that washes out the first hard rain.

Your Timber Stays Yours

Merchantable logs get decked at the edge of the job so you can sell or saw them. We are not in the business of quietly hauling off wood you paid to have cut.

Permitting Flagged Early

Streams, wetlands, floodplain, city limits, easements. Anything that could stop the job gets raised during the estimate, not after the machine is unloaded.

Priced by Your Acre

Open field and mature timber are not the same job. You get a number for the ground you actually have, from photos, instead of a regional average that changes on site.

One Point of Contact

Owner-operated means the person who walked your lot is the person running the machine and the person answering the phone when you have a question mid-job.

How It Runs

How a Land Clearing Job Works, Step by Step

  1. 1

    Tell Us the End Use

House, barn, pasture, or road: the finished purpose decides how deep the work goes and what the price should be.

  2. 2

    Walk the Lot

Clearing jobs usually earn a site visit. We stake the limits, note the drainage, and confirm where debris can go.

  3. 3

    Clear, Grub, and Sort

Timber down, stumps handled the way your end use requires, logs decked, and the rest mulched or piled as agreed.

  4. 4

    Rough Grade and Hand Off

Surface shaped so water leaves correctly, then a walkthrough with you before the equipment loads out.

Land Clearing Questions

Cost per acre depends far more on what is standing than on the acreage itself. Open field with scattered brush is quick work. Mature timber with stumps that have to come out is a different job entirely. Access matters too. A lot you can back a trailer into prices differently than one that needs a road cut first. Send photos and we will price your specific acre, not an average.

That depends on what the ground is becoming. For a homesite or barn pad, stumps come out, because you cannot build or grade over them. For pasture or food plots, grinding them flush is usually enough and costs less. Tell us the end use and we will tell you which one your project actually needs.

You have options. Smaller material gets mulched on site and stays as ground cover. Merchantable logs can be decked at the edge of the job for you to sell or saw. Anything left over can be piled for burning where the county allows it, or hauled off, and hauling adds cost, so we talk it through before we start.

Most clearing on private rural property needs no permit in either state. Exceptions come up near streams and wetlands, inside city limits, on ground with a conservation easement, or where a floodplain is involved. We flag anything that looks like it needs a closer look during the estimate rather than after the machine is on site.

A typical one to two acre homesite runs two to four days including stump removal and rough grading, assuming reasonable access and no surprise ledge rock. Pasture conversion covers ground faster because the finish does not have to be as clean. Weather is the wild card, and saturated ground stops everything.
